“Soon it’ll be tighter in the car and more love at home, because we’re adding another one to our crew,” said the former biathlon star.

That’s how former biathlon star Tarjei Bø and his wife Gita Simonsen announced the news on Instagram. The couple got married last summer, and now they’re expanding their family.

Second Child On the Way

The baby will be the couple’s second child. Their son Aron was born in September 2022. Now, the Bø family is getting ready to welcome a new member, and the news has been met with warm congratulations from fans and fellow athletes alike.

Retirement After a Storied Career

Tarjei Bø retired from professional biathlon in March this year, concluding a remarkable career that spanned 15 years on the World Cup circuit. He was a cornerstone of the Norwegian national team, collecting multiple World Championship medals and World Cup podiums. Known for his calm under pressure and sharp shooting, Bø was not only a strong performer but also a fan favorite.

A Family Farewell

In a unique twist, Tarjei’s younger brother Johannes Thingnes Bø also ended his career this season. The two brothers said their goodbyes at the World Cup finals in Oslo from March 21 to 23. However, both were battling illness leading up to the event and almost missed their own farewell celebration.

A Legacy Beyond Medals

Tarjei Bø leaves behind a lasting legacy in the sport. His charisma, sportsmanship, and dedication helped shape a golden era for Norwegian biathlon. As he shifts focus to family life, the biathlon community will remember him not just for his victories, but for the energy and joy he brought to the sport.
