Setback for Vittozzi – Misses Biathlon World Cup premiere
Vittozzi will not start in Kontiolahti, Finland, the biathlon World Cup premiere in less than two weeks, and not return to the World Cup before the stage in Hochfilzen, Austria.
According to a press release from the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI), “Lisa Vittozzi will not take part in the trip to Kontiolahti, the first stage of the Biathlon World Cup, scheduled from November 30 to December 8. The holder of the crystal globe is recovering from a back problem that has forced her to slow down her preparation a lot in recent weeks, and has decided in agreement with the technical staff to skip the races in Finland and refine her condition in view of the subsequent commitment in Hochfilzen from December 13 to 15,” says the press release and adds:
“Vittozzi will prepare in Obertilliach in the next few days together with a coach from the national staff and will be followed by a physiotherapist from the team.”
