All you need to know ahead of the Bad Gastein weekend

This weekend, December 13 to 15, 2024, it’s time for the Ski Classics Pro Tour kick-off in Austria. After the Pro Team Presentation on Friday, December 13, the Bad Gastein ITT and Bad Gastein Criterium are Season XVI’s first and second Pro Tour events in Sportgastein, Austria. Here is all the information you need to know ahead of the weekend.

BAD GASTEIN ITT

On Saturday, December 14, Ski Classics Season XVI will get a great start to a thrilling season with the Bad Gastein ITT (Individual Time Trial) in Sportgastein, Austria, covering a distance of 7 kilometers on a flat course. This new event format will open the standings in an interesting way. 

The flat ITT is a new race format for Season XVI and is organized as a new 200-point ITT. Athletes will start with a 1-minute gap.

BAD GASTEIN CRITERIUM

On Sunday, December 15, the season continues with the second Pro Tour event in Season XVI, the Bad Gastein Criterium, a 36km long-distance race in Sportgastein, offering participants breathtaking views of the enchanting surroundings of the Tauern Alps.

The Bad Gastein Criterium, characterized by a mass start kermesse event, comprises several laps on a challenging course, high action on sprints and climbs, pushing skiers to their limits. 

The Sprint and Climb competitions start here with several chances to collect valuable points for the season. Champion competition points with 300 points to the winner will be handed out.

SKI CLASSICS FANTASY

The Ski Classics Fantasy League for Season XVI is now up and running. Join the excitement of Ski Classics managing your own Fantasy Team. Win prizes throughout the season and chase the Fantasy champion title of Season XVI. 

How to Play

  1. Go to Ski Classics Fantasy via https://fantasy.skiclassics.com/  
  2. Login with your existing Fantasy account or create a new one*
  3. Read through “HOW TO PLAY” to make sure you understand all the rules and new features.
  4. Go to “Team Selection” and choose/buy up to 10 athletes + 2 Cubs using your starting balance of 40.000 Fantasy dollars. Check out the start lists before each event to ensure your athletes are on the start line. 
  5. Don’t forget to mark one of your athletes as a Team Captain!
  6. Go to “Leagues” and join an existing league or create your own to compete with your friends.
  7. Invite your friends and family to join you for free in an exciting battle for the win!
  8. Have fun and may the best ski coach win!
