Anders Aukland Leading the Veteran Bib Competition

by Leandro Lutz • 17.02.2022
Anders Aukland, Team Ragde Charge, is leading the Visma Ski Classics Veteran bib competition by a small margin over Stanislav Řezáč, Slavia Pojišťovna Sport Team.

After Jizerská50 last weekend, we can see a tight competition for the Veteran bib at the SC Ranking between Anders Aukland and Stanislav Řezač. Both long-distance skiers are Visma Ski Classics Legends and are still fighting for top positions at the Pro Tour.

Anders Aukland, born in 1972, leads the Veteran competition and is 21st overall with 20,259,495 points, closely followed by Stanislav Řezáč, born in 1973, 22nd overall and second on the Veteran Bib list with 20,137,078 points.

In front of Visma Ski Classics Season XII, a new bib was launched for veterans, defined as 44 years and older. The Veteran bib is worn by the male or female athlete with most SC Ranking points.

Veteran Bib Rules

The veteran bib is worn by the male or female athlete with most SC Ranking points of age 44 or above. The athlete’s age is determined by the year when the Ski Classics final of the season takes place. Awards will be handed out to the Veteran bib leader at the Ski Classics Final Gala.

The SC Ranking is for all skiers in the Visma Ski Classics races, women and men in the same ranking list. The best 12 event points last 24 months are counted in the total points.

The SC Ranking points are calculated on the percentage time a skier is behind the winning time in their gender with an exponential drop of points. In a Pro Tour event, the winning athletes receive 2,200,000 points. In a Challengers event, the winners collect 500.000 points.

There are about 17.000 skiers in the SC Ranking competing for the Veteran Bib. See top 3 below.
