Live Now! Andreas Nygaard Trying A World Record
Today, Andreas Nygaard, Team Ragde Charge, last Season’s Yellow Champion bib winner in Ski Classics, will try to set a new SkiErg World Record.
The current World Record holder is the American rugby player Jason Marshall. The athlete set the record in 2021. The time he spent on his 42.195 meters effort at the SkiErg, which Nygaard will now try to beat, is 2:29.53.5.
The total time corresponds to a speed of 1.46 minutes each 500 meters and an average of 290 watts.

Well Prepared
Even though the snow is falling and the ski season has started, Andreas Nygaard is well prepared for the attempt, which will take place indoors.
Last week he carried out a “test” in which he did a half-marathon at the same speed and resistance, with both lactate and heart rate being analyzed.
How fast do you usually go when doing threshold intervals at the SkiErg?
“I usually go at that speed here, maybe sometimes a little faster. But the intervals are rarely longer than 15 minutes,” says Nygaard and continues:
“I think it will be a bit like running a marathon. Easy at the start, without getting a lot of (lactic) acid. Nevertheless, it will become heavy towards the end, and there is a danger of being unable to maintain the specified wattage.”
The Team Ragde Charge athlete has had a somewhat difficult start to the season. Before the opening weekend in Bad Gastein, he fell ill and therefore had to miss the competitions.
However, he was at the start during the La Venosta Criterium, the weekend before Christmas. In Italy, Andreas finished second, only beaten by the Yellow bib leader, Emil Persson, Lager 157 Ski Team.
Nygaard stated before Season XIV that he wanted to win the four biggest races in Ski Classics (Jizerská50, Marcialonga, Vasaloppet, and Birkebeinerrennet). Last year he won all but Marcialonga.
The upcoming Ski Classics Pro Tour event is Pustertaler Ski Marathon, a 62km classic technique event in Italy on January 14, followed by Prato Piazza Mountain Challenge, a 30km race also in Italy on January 15, 2023.
