Båstad-Mölle Rollerski Race Is Canceled
In 2020, the first edition of the long-distance race Båstad-Mölle, a Ski Classics Challengers event, was carried out on rollerskis. This year’s edition was scheduled for October 1.
But now, “this year’s edition is unfortunately canceled because the railway track is severely disrupted by the ongoing expansion of the Helsingborg-Gothenburg railway line. This mainly concerns the critical (closed) bridge passage over the railway south of Ängelholm, where Vege river also severely restricts alternative crossing paths,” write the organizers in a press release and continue:
“Throughout the summer, Båstad-Mölle has worked to solve the alternative route past the ongoing bridge construction over the railway tracks. The solution has been to pack and clean the 2.7 km long gravel road, which runs along the tracks, to arrive at the next safe passage. At the same time, the solution is sensitive to rain, which became especially evident in connection with the heavy rainstorms we have seen in the region in the last weeks.”
“Båstad-Mölle, therefore, assesses that there is a risk to the rollerskiers’ safety with the provisional track route south of Ängelholm and has therefore made the decision to cancel this year’s Båstad-Mölle race.”
“All registration fees will be refunded 100%, which will be done in the next few weeks. Båstad-Mölle is looking forward to running the original route, from Båstad harbor to Kullens lighthouse, in 2023.”
