Cubs athletes – Ski Classics Season XVI

Pro Tour Season XVI is just around the corner, and for the new season, Ski Classics introduced Cubs, a new possibility for Pro Teams to test young prospects. Who are the athletes?

The Cubs category Season XVI includes athletes born before 2004 under 22 years of age. The new feature aims to enhance the Pro Team competition and provide new opportunities for young athletes to test Ski Classics.

Each Pro Team may have two Cubs athletes per event in addition to the regular roster. The Cubs can differ for each event, but athletes may represent only one Pro Team per season.

At the moment of publication, 16 Cubs are registered, 9 Cubs are women, and 7 Cubs are men.

“With the introduction of the Cubs category, we allow very young skiers to test skiing long distances as a member of a Pro Team. We hope this initiative will enhance the interest in Ski Classics from even more skiers over time. Also, Pro Teams are encouraged to test new promising young athletes, whereas a full Pro Tour in first years might be too heavy,” said David Nilsson, Director of Ski Classics, when Cubs was launched.
