Finally A Competition Comeback For Jenny Larsson

On March 27, 2021, Jenny Larsson did her last competition. On Saturday, it’s time for a comeback when she starts the rollerski competition La Venosta Skiroll in Italy. “It feels very fun; I didn’t expect to be able to compete already at the end of September,” says Larsson, who now competes for Team Ragde Charge.

On Saturday, it’s time for a comeback when she starts the rollerski competition La Venosta Skiroll in Italy. “It feels very fun; I didn’t expect to be able to compete already at the end of September,” says Larsson, who now competes for Team Ragde Charge.

Jenny Larsson broke through during Ski Classics Season XI. This resulted, among other things, in a victory at La Diagonela. But with a fall later that season, she injured her wrist. And that injury kept her off the competitive trails for the last Ski Classics season.

The wrist injury was operated on in April 2022, and she is now on her way back. In July, she did her first rollerskiing session after the operation.

“I have followed the planning I made in terms of ramping up with first diagonal, then skate and then double poling, but I was able to start double poling quite quickly. Then I have a shock absorber on the pole, which makes it easier initially to avoid overloading the hand. And in terms of training, things are going well, even if there has been some slight overexertion during the summer,” says Larsson, who is now at a twelve-day camp in Lavaze, Italy, with her new Team Ragde Charge

On Saturday, she will make her first competitive start since Årefjällsloppet on March 27, 2021.

On the program is La Venosta Skiroll, a Ski Classics Challengers event:

“Finally! It feels unusual to compete again. I’ve realized how much I’ve lost in the time I’ve been away, so I’m very humbled that there’s a lot of work left until I’m back where I was.”

What is the goal for the weekend?

“A good workout; to be able to test driving at high speed and also to practice on the “uphill.” It’s a tough course with 1,000 meters of altitude over the 35 kilometers. I want to practice double poling so I will double pole,” says Larsson.

December 10 starts the winter season of Ski Classics; are you on the way for your comeback season?

“As I said, I feel that I have lost a lot, and I am humbled by the work that lies ahead. And everything hasn’t gone the way I wanted. But it cannot be speculated, and I feel that it is advancing rapidly; as well as that I am in the right team, and we have a good camp plan until Bad Gastein (10-11 December), so I think it will be good,” says Jenny Larsson.
