Supporting passion and perseverance: Fund the Danish Skimarathon Team

Danish Skimarathon Team
In a country without mountains or snow, the Danish Skimarathon Team has defied the odds and etched their names in Danish sports history. Now, they are reaching out to the public, seeking support to continue their skiing fairytale with a crowdfunding campaign.

As the first-ever Danish Pro Team on the renowned Ski Classics Pro Tour circuit, the team is composed of dedicated individuals balancing their busy work lives and family commitments, fueled by a shared passion for long-distance skiing.

“A people’s team supported by the people” // Help Danish Skimarathon Team in their continued writing of Danish sports history.

CROWDFUNDING CAMPAIGN

The Pro Team recently completed its inaugural season, with 14 events across Europe, including iconic races such as Vasaloppet, Marcialonga, and Birkebeinnerrennet. These events, akin to the stages of the famous Tour de France in cycling, span the winter months, providing a unique challenge to the skiers. Despite their unconventional background, the Danish Skimarathon Team aspires to achieve even greater heights in their second season. They aim to secure more direct TV coverage, increase visibility within the skiing community, and stand out among their peers.

Unlike many teams that rely on a primary sponsor, the Danish Skimarathon Team has deliberately chosen to maintain its identity as a Danish team without a main sponsor. They appeal to individuals and businesses alike to contribute even a small amount to support their journey and become part of their extraordinary story. Rooted in the notion of being a people’s team supported by the people, they are determined to promote the sport of cross-country skiing while exploring new destinations that offer the necessary conditions.

The team draws inspiration from the remarkable history of cycling, particularly the perseverance of hardworking laborers who participated in races after work and amidst their domestic responsibilities. In 1998, the first-ever professional cycling team in Danish sports history was formed, and the Danish Skimarathon Team sought to replicate that spirit, but in the realm of long-distance skiing. They strive to create their narrative while paying homage to the rich heritage of Danish sports.

Undoubtedly, the team faces significant challenges in their quest to compete against Scandinavian and European counterparts who possess greater resources and skiing traditions. The Norwegian and Swedish teams, in particular, enjoy substantial budgets. Nevertheless, the Danish Skimarathon Team has secured their place in the records of long-distance skiing, much like Vasaloppet in Sweden, which recounts the captivating tale of King Gustav being pursued by the Danes.

This is the foundation upon which the team was built, and they remain committed to preserving their individuality while appreciating the collective support of their supporters. Contributing to their cause can make you a part of Danish and Scandinavian sports history. Every contribution, regardless of size, makes a tangible difference in covering their various expenses, including travel, accommodations, ski waxing, equipment, licenses, clothing, and the substantial nutritional needs of long-distance skiers.

The Pro Team extends their heartfelt gratitude for your support and encourages you to stay updated on their journey by following them on Instagram. Together, let’s ensure the continuation of this remarkable project, driven by passion and embodied by real people with an incredible story.
