How will Lodin approach Reistadløpet?

Hanna Lodin
Hanna Lodin, Team Engcon, placed sixth at Vasaloppet and fifth at Birkebeinerrennet. Now, she is looking forward to this weekend’s tough challenges and has decided to approach Reistadløpet differently than a year ago.

Hanna Lodin has only been competing at elite level for a few years, but her development has been fast. Just over a year ago, at Vasaloppet, she finished in the top 10 in Ski Classics for the first time.

This year, she has improved this top position step by step. After finishing sixth at Vasaloppet, she followed up by finishing fifth in the latest Pro Tour event, Birkebeinerrennet.

“Both Vasan and Birken suit me well. What awaits me this weekend are very tough, hilly races. I plan to race Saturday’s Reistadløpet with kick wax. It feels very exciting to try this,” says Lodin, who last year was fifteenth at Reistadløpet and tenth at Summit 2 Senja, just double-poling both days.

How much do you train with kick wax?

“During this season, it has been about once a week. But in the last few weeks, I’ve been focusing on it a bit more, and I’ve also tried to do intervals with the kick wax. I feel that I have developed a lot in my diagonal striding,” says Lodin.

For this season, Lodin was recruited from Ski Team Göhlins to Team Engcon. With three races left, she is seventh in the overall standings, just 14 points behind teammate and last winter’s overall winner Ida Dahl.

In the Youth competition, she is second, 119 points behind Karolina Hedenström:

“I think Karro will double pole both days, so it will be exciting to see if I can get some points on her then. And I will do my best to be able to pick up the points I am behind Karro,” says Lodin.
