Ida Dahl: Fourth Place In The Third Skating Session Of The Year
Ida Dahl, Team Engcon and defending the colors of the IFK Mora ski club, is one of the world’s best long-distance skiers. Last season she was second in the Ski Classics and won Marcialonga, Jizerská50, La Diagonela, and Prato Piazza Mountain Challenge.
Dahl is one of the main favorites for the Ski Classics Season XIV, but she also performed well this weekend on shorter and traditional distances.
On Saturday’s 10km individual race in classic technique, Dahl was fifth at the Swedish Premiere in Bruksvallarna and yesterday, fourth in the 15km freestyle race, two minutes behind the winner Ebba Andersson:
“I felt during yesterday (Saturday race) that I’m in decent form, then maybe I should have taken it a little easier from the start. But I didn’t think it would go so well in the freestyle race,” says Dahl to Langd.se.
How many freestyle training sessions have you done before the race?
“Probably two this year. So, it’s not much. I probably benefit from upper body strength, but I thought my muscles would “die earlier.” I’m surprised that it felt so good,” says Dahl.
Now you are in the middle of the debate about going to the World Cup next weekend. What would you say if you were invited?
“If I were asked about going to the World Cup, I would agree. Otherwise, the plan is to go to the long-distance premiere in Edsåsdalen next weekend and then to Livigno to prepare before the Ski Classics,” concludes Ida Dahl.
