Team Mäenpää strengthens the squad on the men’s side with young promising Juuso Mattila. The 22-year-old Juuso reinforces the team for both competitions in Orsa Grönklitt.

Juuso has good results from the Finnish Championships, with a solid 6th place in the sprint in Tampere in January. Juuso also was second in the Finlandia Hiihto 65km race in 2022.

“Juuso is a talented skier with good sprinting and double poling qualities. It feels good to have Juuso on the team. He takes part in both competitions in Orsa Grönklitt on February 18 and 19, then we’ll see if there are more competitions in his calendar,” says Team Manager Kim Mäenpää.

“I am full of expectations and eager to compete for the first time in Ski Classics. I don’t set any placement goals, but I will try to be high on the results list and do my best for the team. I’m really looking forward to joining Team Mäenpää,” says a satisfied Juuso Mattila.

Juuso becomes a teammate with Viktor Mäenpää, Christoffer Lindvall, Hannes, and Robin Mäenpää.

The start of the Ski Classics season has been challenging, with surprising injuries for Robin and Hannes Mäenpää. Robin had an unfortunate fall during a run in Livigno in December and injured his ankle. Hannes suffers from a tendon injury in his shoulder that persists. It’s still unclear when they can compete again.

Viktor Mäenpää has shown rising form in the first half of the Ski Classics Season XIV and contributed with some breakaways during the races. He shows that he can be involved and fight for good positions.

The next competition is Jizerská in the Czech Republic on February 12. Viktor Mäenpää and Christoffer Lindvall will start there, and Mats Mäenpää is taking care of the team service and waxing.
