Lager 157 Ski Team is looking for a new Alvar Myhlback
Alvar Myhlback has just turned 18 but has already shown his huge potential in long-distance and traditional cross-country skiing, both in skiing and roller skiing.
The Swedish Pro Team athlete won two gold medals at the Junior World Championships in Planica last winter and has a top-20 ranking in the World Cup. And – perhaps most impressively – a podium finish at Vasaloppet after the organizers had to change the rules to allow him to start.

For the upcoming winter, Alvar will continue to compete in both long-distance and traditional cross-country skiing. His main goal is to make the Swedish team for the 2025 World Ski Championships in Trondheim. This could make him even younger than Petter Northug’s record from the World Championships in Falun in 2006 when he won as a 20-year-old—the youngest ever – a record that still stands.

Alvar Myhlback has a lot to thank Lager 157 Ski Team for.
The help from the Lager 157 Ski Team has been an important piece of the puzzle in Alvar Myhlback’s development. They have always been behind Alvar in his dual focus on long races and traditional competitions.
“I think what we are doing is nice. I don’t want to give it up, and in some races, it’s a perfect combination for traditional cross-country skiing,” Myhlback said when Lager 157 presented this season’s team a couple of weeks ago.
Now, he is preparing for the upcoming season with both the Swedish national team skiers and his Lager 157 Ski Team.
“Getting top-20 in the World Cup in Falun without any special preparations in traditional competitions shows that it is possible to get top-10 there.”
And his Pro Team sees the importance of investing in the younger skiers. Lager 157 Ski Team is entering its fourth season with a youth team.
“We started this youth team to give an offer to young cross-country talents and guide them towards long-distance races. Last winter we won both the women’s and men’s class in the Swedish cup 157 XCC Originals. Now, we continue to invest in the next generation of skiers. Do you want to be one of them? Then you can apply with us,” writes Lager 157 Ski Team on social media.
