The 28-year-old comes from a season that wasn’t what she had dreamed of. Now, Jenny Larsson has switched Pro Teams and is looking ahead to a new season.

Pro Team athlete Jenny Larsson had her breakthrough in Ski Classics when she won La Diagonela in 2021. Last season didn’t go as planned, with her best result being a fourth-place finish in the Grönklitt Classic.

“Going into this winter, I feel really eager for revenge after a very tough season. I really felt that I didn’t show what I was capable of,” says Jenny Larsson to Langd.se.

New Pro Team

In early May, it was announced that she was switching teams and will compete for Lager 157 Ski Team in the upcoming season. Previously, Jenny had competed for Team Ragde Charge for two seasons.

“It feels very inspiring to join Lager 157 Ski Team, and I am really looking forward to trying out the team’s approach both at training camps and at home,” she said in May.

How has the first summer with Lager 157 Ski Team been?

“The training summer has gone well. I got off to a great start with the team’s first two camps in Ulricehamn and Idre. It really felt like I was becoming a better skier week by week. Of course, it’s been highly motivating to have a new team and strong teammates to push against,” says Jenny, and continues:

“The focus has been on developing technically. Especially when I’m tired, where I have a lot to work on. It feels like I am in the right place to develop.”

Testing Her Form During Summer

During the summer, many long-distance skiers compete regularly. For Jenny, there has been less racing than usual due to an illness in early August.

“I’ve only raced the Alliansloppet and Värnamorullen this summer. Unfortunately, I was sick during the Swedish Championships at home in Östersund. I hadn’t planned to race more than that, and my plan moving forward is to finish the roller skiing season with Klarälvsloppet.”

Värnamorullen was a successful race for her, where she won the sprint against national team skier Johanna Hagström.

“Värnamorullen felt significantly better than the weekend before in Trollhättan, even though we had had tough and good training days in Ulricehamn during the week. I had a few weeks where my body wasn’t responding as I wanted after two weeks of illness in early August. So, before the start, I really felt that I needed a good result and a day where my body responded a bit better, which I am very grateful for,” she says.

What are you taking with you from the summer?

“I take with me that for me, it’s become clear that I need a race in my legs before I start to get some speed after a summer of heavier training. And it’s important to balance that since I don’t want to peak too early, which races tend to make me do.”

Finally, which races are in your mind during the tough pre-season training sessions?

“The races that are in my mind during tough sessions are primarily Vasaloppet and Birken. Two races I have never succeeded in, but that I really want to do well in. Both, as you know, start with tough climbs, and that’s where I want to improve,” she concludes.
