Team Eksjöhus made history during the final weekend of Ski Classics Season XIV, securing their first-ever 1-2 podium and another display of strength by Martin Løwstrøm Nyenget. Last weekend featured two races: Reistadløpet, over 40 kilometers on Saturday, and the Season Finale Summit 2 Senja, spanning 68 kilometers, on Sunday.

“A fantastic good weekend,” says Sports Director Espen Träldal in a press release

Nyenget emerged victorious in both races, winning by a margin of 25 seconds on Saturday and a commanding 45 seconds on Sunday. On Saturday, his teammate Eirik Sverdrup Augdal was the closest to him, securing a double victory (1-2) for Team Eksjöhus and the day’s Pro Team competition win.

During Sunday’s race, Nyenget again crushed the competition, with Sverdrup Augdal finishing in seventh place. Axel Jutterström, Morten Eide Pedersen, and Joel Andersson also contributed to the team’s success, finishing in 22nd, 32nd, and 50th places, respectively, on Saturday and improving their positions on Sunday.

“Martin pulverized the opposition this weekend, and Eirik was also very good. We are pleased about the team’s first double victory,” says Sports Manager Espen Träldal.

Although there was no podium finish for Team Eksjöhus on the women’s side, Magni Smedås fought hard for the overall victory in Ski Classics. She finished fourth on both Saturday and Sunday, and the battle for the Championship competition went down to the wire.

Before Sunday’s final race, Smedås was just one point behind Ida Dahl in the overall standings. Smedås tried to gain an advantage by using kick wax, but Dahl proved strong in double poling and held on to win the overall championship by a narrow margin.

“Magni made a valiant attempt, and I think we thought quite tactically when she went with kick wax. She took Ida in the big hill at the end, but then Ida was very good at double poling. Seen over the whole season, Ida is well-deserved of the overall victory, and we congratulate her on it,” says Träldal, who also expressed his happiness with Magni Smedås’ impressive season.

Sofie Elebro, Frida Erkers, and Evelina Crusell also contributed to the team’s success, finishing in seventh, eighth, and 19th places on Saturday. Erkers then finished in eleventh place, and Elebro in twelfth position on Sunday.

Overall, it was a fantastic weekend for Team Eksjöhus, and they will be looking to build on their success in the upcoming season.
