News: We are now releasing technique videos for roller skiing
Many people may be afraid to start skating on roller skis, but in a previous article on ProXCskiing.com, ski coach Kalle Gräfnings said that there is nothing to be afraid of.
“Many people find it easier to start with skate skiing than with classic skiing. This is because the wheels in skating are narrower, which makes them easier to turn with.”
Kalle also talked about what you need to think about when it comes to technique.
What do you need to think about when it comes to technique in skating?
“Number one is to plan your turn. This means that you shouldn’t have to go down slopes that you don’t know you can handle. And it’s hard to teach yourself, so I would suggest taking a private lesson or a course. Perhaps the most important part is learning how to plow and then gradually being able to “handle more and more speed”. Because that’s one of the biggest differences between roller skiing and skiing in winter,” says Gräfnings and continues:
“In skating, it’s very much about being able and ‘daring’ to stand on one leg and glide. Those who have done some cross-country skating or inline skating usually have an advantage because the techniques are very similar. But as I said, for many people it usually goes pretty fast to get started and skate.”

On Wednesday, May 22, we are also releasing technique videos for skate skiing on roller skis. The technique videos give you an educational review of four techniques in skating: V1, V2, V2 alternate, and Free skating. The instructors in the videos are former elite skiers Elin Mohlin and Anton Karlsson.
The videos are published on our streaming service SC Play under the category SC Training. On SC Play there are also technique videos for classic roller skiing. You can see them here.
