Ski Team Göhlins is preparing for the Ski Classics Season XVI (2024/2025) and has started to present its squad. Today, it was announced that the Pro Team athlete Johannes Eklöf is joining the Swedish Pro Team.

Eklöf was a member of Team Ramudden and is now heading to Ski Team Göhlins. His most significant achievement so far is 1st place at the Prato Piazza Mountain Challenge in 2022, his first Ski Classics Pro Tour victory. Still, he has shown over the seasons that she has the potential for more podiums and improvements.

Johannes Eklöf about signing with Ski Team Göhlins:

“Ski Team Göhlins is a Pro Team that has always been close to my heart and home. It was started by Simon Jonsson, a longtime friend of mine, and I am friends with all the skiers on the team. We have many training hours together from before. It is also a team that is highly connected to the region in Sweden that I come from: Småland. The main sponsor, Göhlins, is very engaged with the team, helping the team find new sponsors and becoming even more connected in the region. They have been very positive about taking me in and have been able to come up with a plan to support me in all that I need to become successful next season,” says Eklöf and adds:

“They are a smaller team, which means they are more flexible, both in allowing for individual plans and adapting to new circumstances. Something that showed to be important last season with the new fluor ban, when they managed to have better skis than many of the big Pro Teams in several competitions.”

In the new Pro Team, Johannes Eklöf is feeling motivated by taking a more active role in equipment care, training planning, and sponsor selection:

“For me, it is positive to become more involved in taking care of my skis, planning testing, and being able to affect the travel and training plans at camps and competitions more again. Perhaps I can have more of a say in which sponsors the team uses for equipment and such. It is motivating to start the training season in a way that it hasn’t been in a while.”

What are your goals for Ski Classics Season XVI?

“My primary goal for next season is to climb the podium again. When I am there, I can start planning for higher goals,” concludes Johannes Eklöf.

During Ski Classics Season XV, Eklöf started in 13 individual Pro Tour events and 6 Ski Classics Challengers. His best results were 10th place at Bad Gastein Criterium, 12th at La Venosta ITT and Janteloppet, and 1st at the Ski Classics Challengers event Båstad-Mölle, finishing the season in 18th place at the Champion competition with 884 points.

Ski Team Göhlins: Pro Team Director about Season XV

Ski Team Göhlins is based in Gnosjö, Småland. They have just completed their third season in Ski Classics and ended up in 28th place overall in the Pro Team competition, meaning they are not guaranteed a Pro Team license for Season XVI. Still, Pro Team Director Simon Jonsson is hopeful:

“Even though we didn’t quite reach our goal of being in the top 25 in the Pro Team competition this season, we’re not too worried. We are determined to solve it next season. We still have young and hungry skiers, and we believe we can develop our team and participate in Ski Classics.”

In an interview with Langd.se and ProXCskiing.com, Simon Jonsson, Pro Team Director, reflected on the team’s performance during Season XV and what’s next for the Swedish Pro Team.
