The summer competition season for Pro Teams from Germany and Austria began strongly last Sunday at the Vogelsberger Rollski Marathon in Grebenhain, Germany.

Young athletes from Pro Teams Bruse Sauerland Ski Team, Ski-Willy Marathon Team Austria, and xc-ski.de A|N Skimarathon Team used this race as a critical form test and preparation for the upcoming Ski Classics Season XVI. The participants faced a challenging 7-lap, 5.5 km hilly circuit, battling through intermittent heavy rain. This event marked the first race of the DSV Marathon Series, which spans four competitions from June to October.

Men’s and Women’s Race Results

In the men’s race, Jonathan Göppert from xc-ski.de A|N Skimarathon Team claimed victory, followed by Tobias Hartig and Juri Propp, both from Bruse Sauerland Ski Team. On the women’s side, Melina Schöttes from xc-ski.de A|N Skimarathon Team emerged as the winner.

Pro Team Directors Impress in Top 10

Pro Team Directors Peter Kiene from Ski-Willy Marathon Team Austria and Lennert Versen from Bruse Sauerland Ski Team showcased their top form by finishing in the top 10.

Lennert Versen expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance:

“It was a strong race start for our team, with two athletes on the podium and our young skiers Max Bernshausen and Till Hartmann finishing in 4th and 5th place. This is very encouraging and motivating. Our commitment is paying off, and we are already looking forward to Ski Classics Season XVI.”

Peter Kiene highlighted the importance of the DSV Rollski Marathon Series for summer competition:

“The DSV Rollski Marathon Series gives us the opportunity to directly compare ourselves with other Pro Teams in competition mode, even in summer. Although we had a 7-hour car journey, we were not entirely satisfied with the results, but we gained valuable insights and will perform better at the next race in Carlsgrün at the end of July.”
