Ragde Charge Launches New Youth Camp Based On Ski-Idol
Camp Ragde Charge is a brand-new talent camp for young people based on the successful concept of the star-studded Ski-Idol events held in the 2000s.
However, the new edition will be significantly larger: Instead of 30 participants as on Ski-Idol, Camp Ragde Charge is open to up to 100 skiers between 14 and 18 years old.
The application deadline to participate in this year’s edition of Camp Ragde Charge is Sunday, May 1.
High level and record interest
From June 20 to 24, 100 selected skiers will be able to stay at Gardermoen Airport Hotel and fill the week with training, competitions, lectures, and fun activities. The Pro Tour skiers on Team Ragde Charge will be instructors together with other well-known profiles, so competence and experience are well taken care of.
Interest in the new Camp Ragde Charge camp has exceeded expectations, and the organizer is impressed with the level of applicants.
“We have received many good applications, so there will be a high level,” says Jørgen Aukland, who is responsible for Camp Ragde Charge.
Kickstarted his career with Ski-Idol
Although Camp Ragde Charge is a new offer, it is not the first time the Aukland brothers have arranged a talent camp.
A few years ago, they arranged Ski-Idol in Tønsberg. At that time, 30 cross-country skiers were invited, and on the list of participants were several well-known names from the four years of Ski-Idol.
Therese Johaug, Didrik Tønseth, Marthe Kristoffersen, Sjur Røthe and Anders Gløersen were among the “students” on Ski-Idol. The experiences from there have made an impression.
“I remember well those days in Tønsberg. It was a nice boost for me when I was at the beginning of my career,” says Didrik Tønseth, who won Ski idol in 2009 when he was 18 and the following year in 2010.
Distributes 100.000 Norwegian Krones
Like Ski-Idol, there are many scholarships to be awarded at Camp Ragde Charge. During the gathering week, a total of NOK 100.000 will be distributed to the participants.
“We will reward the participants based on results, attitudes, and efforts, so everyone has the opportunity here,” says Jørgen Aukland.
Details
The registration deadline for this year’s Camp Ragde Charge is Sunday, May 1. The list of those who get a place will be published on Monday, May 2.
The camp is open to a maximum of 100 skiers, and the organizer especially encourages girls in the 17-18-year-old classes to apply.
“It will be a nice mix between boys and girls. We encourage the oldest girls to apply,” says Aukland.
Camp Ragde Charge is open to all interested cross-country skiers between the ages of 14 and 18. The withdrawal is made based on both results and attitudes.
