Settlin Strengthens Team Engcon
Evelina Settlin steps into Jerry Ahrlin’s long distance team.
“It feels good that we got Evelina in the team. Now we have a really strong team on the starting line for Pro Team Tempo on Saturday”, says Jerry Ahrlin.
29-year-old Settlin has a couple of heavier seasons behind her. The start of this season has not given her a place in the World Cup either. Last weekend she was the 21st and third Swedish skier at the Scandinavian Cup in Beitostolen.
Now Settlin steps into Team Engcon and complements Laila Kveli on the women’s side. Jenny Solin was registered for Team Engcon before the season but is now going to Dresden this weekend with the Swedish Team.
“I have had a plan B in my back pocket since the summer and contacted many skiers. Now it turned out that many skiers had a cold but Evelina was ready to go for us. Now we have a really strong team on the starting line”, says Jerry Ahrlin and continues;
“For me and many other long distance ski teams, it is important to give skiers the chance and other alternatives if an Olympic venue may be out of reach. Evelina is on her way down from Sollefteå and joins us in Östersund tonight.”
Team Engcon’s entire line-up for the Pro Team Tempo in Grönklitt now looks like this:
Nils Persson, Gabriel Höjlind, Torgeir Sulen Hovland, Laila Kveli and Evelina Settlin.
Settlin has a 9th place from the 30km at the World Cup in Holmenkollen 2019. The same winter she was 13th in the skiathlon race at the World Ski Championships. In January 2020, she was 3rd in the team sprint in Dresden together with Linn Sömskar in Sweden’s second team when Linn Svahn and Maja Dahlqvist won.
Another Swedish skier who stepped into a Pro Team just before the start of Visma Ski Classics is the national team skier in ski orienteering, Hanna Eriksson. The IFK Mora skier has taken a place in the Czech team Vltava Fund Ski Team.
