Emil Persson dominated the Ski Classics Season XIV. Now he has extended his contract for the next two seasons.

Two seasons ago, Lager 157 Ski Team’s Emil Persson took his first overall victory in Ski Classics. After finishing second behind Andreas Nygaard last season, Persson regained the throne this winter.

When Persson crossed the finish line as the winner of Vasaloppet, it was clear that he had secured the overall victory with still three events left in Season XIV:

“Emil was responsible for an unreal season. Very cool to be able to join and follow the season so closely,” says Pro Team Director Anton Järnberg.

What has Emil developed?

“Emil has skied for us for five years and has made great steps every season. Last winter, he was second but had some high peaks; the Tartu Ski Marathon and Ylläs-Levi victories. He showed even then that if we get the stability, he will be hard to beat. And he showed that. He has something exceptional and has also done an incredible job, not least technically, where we worked on small details to develop his skiing even further. Then you must develop double poling uphill; that’s where he took the biggest step,” says Anton Järnberg.

On May 13, Lager 157 Ski Team will present its lineup for the coming season; but the most prominent signature has already been made.

Nine-time Season XIV winner Emil Persson will ski for the Lager 157 Ski Team for the next two seasons:

“It is, of course, very important. Emil is our leader, and we can build our team because Emil continues with us,” says Järnberg.

A more extended interview about Lager 157 Ski Team’s season and plans will be published here on ProXCskiing.com later in the week.

The Season XIV of Ski Classics Pro Tour consisted of 14 events on 10 event weekends in 6 different countries.
