Silly Season: “Next Season We Aim To Win The Pro Team Competition”
“We will be a bigger team next winter. Both in terms of skiers and people around the team,” says Pro Team Director Jerry Ahrlin.
Team Engcon can look back on a successful season last winter.
A quick review could summarize Team Engcon’s season: overall victory, five individual race wins for Ida Dahl, and a win at the Pro Team Tempo. However, the middle part of the season was seriously disrupted when basically the entire team fell ill in connection with Engadin La Diagonela and Marcialonga:
“That was tough. But we handled the situation well before, during, and after. And, of course, it’s great for the whole team that Ida could win the yellow bib. She showed throughout the season that she is incredibly hard to beat when she is in her strongest form. The fact that we got her into the team means a lot on and off the track. She is offensive, trains hard, and always goes all-in; those qualities reflect on the whole team,” says Pro Team Director Jerry Ahrlin to Langd.se.
During next week, Team Engcon will have its first training camp for the coming season. From May 2 to 7, the team will stay in Stora Blåsjön in northern Jämtland, Sweden.
On May 6, there will be the opportunity to challenge the team in the Stigclassic (named after Engcon’s owner) long-distance race. And then the next winter’s lineup will also be presented:
“We will be a bigger team next winter. This is both in terms of the number of skiers and people around the team. Last winter, we finished sixth in the team competition; for next year, the goal is to win, says Ahrlin.
