Silly Season: Smedås Signs Three-Year Contract
It was a fierce battle into the final day of Ski Classics Season XIV, whether it would be Magni Smedås or Ida Dahl winning the Champion bib competition in the women’s side of Ski Classics.
Dahl was the first over the finish line and thus secured the overall victory:
“Ida has shown very high capacity throughout the season and is a well-deserved overall winner. Just reach out and congratulate. Then I was incredibly impressed with Magni’s first season in Ski Classics. She has taken two important wins (Marcialonga and Jizerská50) and skied at a level in her first long-distance season that many others who have taken the step from traditional cross-country skiing have never been close to. This provides important lessons for the coming season where we will put extra focus on, among other things, double poling on tough uphills,” says Team Eksjöhus Sports Director Espen Träldal.
Over the past weekend, Smedås extended her agreement with Team Eksjöhus for another three seasons.
“We are, of course, very happy that Magni will invest further with us. We make long-term investments with our athletes, creating security for the skiers and the team. We work on building a foundation and stability in what we do. And we will have four women at the start by next year,” says Träldal.
This means another skier will be added to this winter’s trio apart from Smedås, Frida Erkers, and Sofie Elebro.
“For the team as a whole, i.e., women and men, we have already finished with three new skiers; these will be released next week,” says Träldal.
The Season XIV of Ski Classics Pro Tour consisted of 14 events on 10 event weekends in 6 different countries.
