Silly Season: Team Curira Closes Down

by PROXCSKIING • 20.04.2022
Curira AB has decided to end the venture with the long-distance team Team Curira. The company has owned and run the team that competed in Visma Ski Classics.

“It is of course sad to finish, but the team goes out with the flag at the top. In terms of placement, this is the absolute best season with as many as three podium places and in addition many strong performances. Skiers and leaders have all done an absolutely fantastic job,” says Mathias Blomberg, CEO of Curira AB, in a press release.

The season’s most significant success came in January when the Norwegian Stian Hoelgaard took third place in the Pustertaler Ski Marathon in Italy and then two second places at the Prato Piazza Mountain Challenge in Italy and Engadin La Diagonela in Switzerland.

Other highlights of the season were, for example, Klas Nilsson’s strong sixth place at the Tartu Maraton in Estonia and the fact that Gabriel Thorn established himself at a high level already during his first season on the Pro Tour with, among other things, a nice fifteenth place at Prato Piazza Mountain Challenge.

“Overall, we have had a really good year. There are many to thank for that. We quickly managed to put together good chemistry so that skiers and leaders had fun together, pulled in the same direction, and made each other better. Then I’m glad that everyone’s hard work could be translated into many good competition results,” says Johan Kask, team manager last season.

Skiers who represented Team Curira last season:

  • Stian Hoelgaard
  • Klas Nilsson
  • Gabriel Thorn
  • Alfred Nilsson
  • Hanna Lodin
  • Saga Nilsson

In the press release, Curira AB thanks all sponsors and suppliers who have contributed to the success and wishes all the team skiers and leaders all the happiness and success in the future.
