Team Ramudden assembled a new Pro Team for Ski Classics Season XIV. Now it is clear how the team will line up for next winter: “We have been able to check off many of the goals we set before the season,” says Pro Team Director Lina Korsgren.

When we go back a year, it was clear that a largely new Team Ramudden would be on the starting line during the season that has just ended.

Lina Korsgren had announced a month earlier that she would end her professional career to become a Pro Team Director; in addition, three more winners in Ski Classics left Team Ramudden: Ida Dahl (for Team Engcon), Max Novak (to Team Aker Dæhlie), and Jenny Larsson (who missed the whole season before due to an injury, Larsson signed for Team Ragde Charge).

“We had to build a largely new team. And I think we had good quality in what we did both in terms of training camps and rollerski competitions. Then it was a very important and significant building block in the team that came in when Emilie (Fleten) joined us,” says Pro Team Director Lina Korsgren.

How do you see the past season?

“It was a successful season for us. We had stated goals in advance. Alfred (Buskqvist) would go for the Sprint bib, Emilie (Fleten) for her first victory, Herman (Paus) and Amund (Riege) would get the Youth bib, and Ida (Palmberg) would fight for victory in the Pink Youth bib. We could check off three goals with Alfred, Emilie, and Amund. Then it was very nice that we performed so well and stably that we led the Pro Team competition all the way to Birken. The fact that we finished third there added flavor.”

How do you need to develop for next season?

“It’s clear that there are always things to develop. We did many good things as a team this year, so I’d say that we mainly keep working on what we’re doing. The team is still very new; we have worked together for a year, which gives us confidence that what we are doing is good. But we have made a plan where we build on the plan we had for this season with camps at home and high-altitude training camps. In addition, we plan to go to the rollerski tour to break up the training and test the tough competition situation even in the summer.”

How do you see your role? Has it been easy to step into the Pro Team Director position?

“It’s like when you’re new at work. It probably takes a year before you are confident in it. But I feel like I’ve grown into the role more and more. But of course, it felt a little strange at the first camp in June; to stand there and not be active,” says Korsgren, who had to make a ‘mini comeback’ last winter when Emilie Fleten was not feeling good and gave up the Pro Team Tempo in Bad Gasten.

What does the team building for next year look like?

“As for the Ski Classics team, it will look exactly like last season (see below). Then we will develop other areas to try to reach more skiers, but we will present exactly what that area will look like later,” concludes Lina Korsgren.
