The first few days of the New Year are already intense with a Ski Classics Challengers event. Vasaloppet China takes place this Thursday, January 4, in Changchun, China.

Vasaloppet China, the Ski Classics Challengers event in Asia, is taking place on Thursday, January 4, 2024, in Changchun, China, and for another year as a Ski Classics Challengers event.

After the lift of international travel restrictions, participation in the on-site event in Changchun will be available for Chinese citizens and, again, for international skiers.

Vasaloppet China, the biggest cross-country ski event in China, is organized in the suburbs of Changchun, Jilin Province, in northeast China. The event is a 50km long-distance classic race surrounded by beautiful nature, similar to Northern Europe. A 25km event is also available for those who crave a shorter-distance race.

The ski area is in Jingyuetan National Forest Park, which has a total area of about 100 square kilometers. The park consists of large forest areas with water features, and the topography is moderate to very hilly, but the course is suitable for all skiers.

In 2007, the park hosted a World Cup stage, and in 2017, Vasaloppet China was a member event of the Ski Classics Pro Tour. The area has excellent conditions for Nordic skiing, and the settings around the ski arena are graced by massive snow sculptures, which are a part of the Changchun Winter Festival.
