The Ski Classics Season XV is over. Now, preparation begins for the upcoming season. Hear about the past season and what lies ahead for Ski Team Göhlins.

Ski Team Göhlins is based in Gnosjö, Småland. They have just completed their third season in Ski Classics and ended up in 28th place overall in the Pro Team competition, meaning they are not guaranteed a Pro Team license for Season XVI. Still, Pro Team Director Simon Jonsson is hopeful:

“Even though we didn’t quite reach our goal of being in the top 25 in the Pro Team competition this season, we’re not too worried. We are determined to solve it next season. We still have young and hungry skiers, and we believe we can develop our team and participate in Ski Classics.”

How do you see the past season as a team?

“It has been a fantastic season for us where several skiers have made small but significant progress. Representation at all the competitions has strengthened our cohesion and allowed us to share many memorable moments. Last fall, we had a very nice camp in Mallorca, and since then, the season has rolled on,” says Jonsson to Langd.se and adds:

“Despite being a smaller team and unable to match the bigger teams regarding resources, we have still performed and competed on several fronts. We have had good skis in most races. Our recipe for success lies in simplicity and with the hub in Gnosjö. Our local contacts through Isak and Göhlins and others do a strong job and encourage us in this venture.”

What is the most significant memory?

“Undoubtedly, it has been the unbeatable community and everything we have experienced together. Despite being individual athletes, we are a united team that supports each other through adversity and success. The incident after Birkebeinerrennet, where I suffered a cardiac arrest, and we as a group had to fight through it, has really marked us and made us stronger as a unit.”

What have you done well?

“We can be proud of what we have achieved this season, especially the new top positions on the men’s side. Elias Andersson’s 28th place in Grönklitt and Fredrik Andersson’s 21st place in Janteloppet have been pleasing achievements.”

What can you develop?

“We know that there is always potential for development, especially on the women’s side, where we have suffered some losses due to illness. That’s something we’ll certainly address for the coming season, along with making smart priorities to improve our game.”

When will you nail down the squad?

“When we get the squad nailed down is still uncertain. We are shaping it and are convinced that it will be a great composition that will take us even further next season.”
