The double Ski Classics Challengers event, Sovereign 2 SilverStar Ski Marathon, Classic and Skate, will take place this weekend, April 6 and 7, in Vernon, Canada.

This is a point-to-party race starting at Sovereign Lake Nordic Club and ending on the main street of SilverStar Mountain Resort. With flowing trails and approximately 800m of climbing, this course offers a challenge that is rewarded by fantastic views and fabulous conditions.

If not all of you want to ski the longer race (this year, approximately 41.5km) to get to the party, the Local Organizing Committee also has a half-distance race leading to the same party. Plus, there are two of everything, so you can start at the classic and skate races.

Stay at SilverStar Mountain Resort, get some downhill skiing while there, and enjoy the family atmosphere of one of Canada’s premier alpine resorts. Then, get ready for the event by enjoying the Nordic trails at Sovereign Lake Nordic Club and SilverStar Mountain.

The two venues are above 1500m, so there is great early snow and lots of it throughout the season. This provides plentiful late-season snow, allowing fabulous skiing conditions at the beginning of April.

According to the Local Organizing Committee, great snow is still available, and the conditions have been amazing.

At the same time of year, 1200m down in the Okanagan Valley, the paddling, hiking, road biking, mountain biking, and golf are already in full swing.

The Okanagan Valley is also world-famous for its fruit and wine, so extend your stay further and enjoy all it has to offer. Extend it even longer and enjoy all that British Columbia has to offer as well!
