Team Straye Flammekaster – Pro Team Presentation Season XIV

by Teemu Virtanen • 11.11.2022
This Norwegian Pro Team has ten skiers born in the 1990s. There is experience on the team, and the team counts on turning that experience into results come the new season.

Jørgen Christoffer Myking took part in three Pro Tour events last winter and placed himself as follows: Marcialonga 101st, Vasaloppet 144th, and Birkebeinerrennet 140th. Thomas Edvard Just also finished three events with the following results: Marcialonga 94th, Jizerska50 52nd, and Birkebeinerrennet 89th. Per Cristian Wessel marked two events in his calendar last winter and finished them with good results: Marcialonga 80th and Reistadløpet 70th. Petter Nataas was very busy last season as he traveled to six Pro Tour locations. His results ranged from 64th at Tartu Ski Maraton to 137th at Vasaloppet. Additionally, he finished Engadin La Diagonela, Marcialonga, Birken, and Reistadløpet.

According to the FIS database, Ingrid Hannestad had not raced since 2014 until she returned to action last winter. She completed three Pro Tour events: Marcialonga, where she finished 35th; Birkebeinerrennet, where she performed even better by finishing 28th; and Reistadløpet, where she had her best day with her 16th position.

Another returnee was Asmund Heir, whose FIS account had not been active since 2011 until last season. He took his comeback quite seriously, participated in six Pro Tour races, and performed surprisingly well considering his hiatus. He finished 76th at Engadin La Diagonela, 85th at Marcialonga, 56th at Jizerská50, 60th at Tartu Ski Maraton, 80th at Vasaloppet, and 117th at Birkebeinerrennet. He is only 28 years old, meaning he can have many more years to develop further.

Eivind Andreas Ehrenborg Vold is another skier who has not that much information or any results to show for, except his 64th place at Vasaloppet last winter. However, if he can improve on that performance, he will come a serious point-taker for his team.

Tuva Toftdahl Staver has an impressive background with some Word Cup, Scandinavian Cup, and National Championship races with good results. Still, she had not raced since 2019, when she finished 22nd at Birkebeinerrennet.

There are also two more female skiers on the team, Maren Engeskaug Nielsen and Fanny Mary Moeller Endresen, but there is not much data or information about their results.

There are a couple of possible top 50 male skiers on this team, and they really need to push hard in order to get points for the Pro Team competition. Let’s see if Straye Flammekaster becomes a household name in the near future.
