The 60-kilometer long-distance race starts in Bardufoss and ends in Finnsnes, passing through fantastic landscapes. Summit 2 Senja is a race from the mountains for the fjords, involving two more municipalities, Sørreisa and Senja.

The Grand Finale Summit 2 Senja was introduced to the Pro Tour during Season XIV, and already in its first edition, the event has garnered recognition and acclaim, having been awarded the title “Best Event of the Year” in Ski Classics.

“To end the season with the spectacular Grand Finale event Summit 2 Senja, we believe it’s a great closing firework of Season XVI! New this winter is that recreational skiers can also be part of the Grand Finale race if they qualify. There will be up to 250 participation spots outside the Pro Team field, and to be able to register, you need to have done at least one Pro Tour race within winner time on your gender +50% or two Challengers events within the same time rule. When qualification is completed, the Grand Finale coin will show up in SC MyPages, and then it is possible to register for the event. Overall, we believe Season XVI is a very good and compact Tour with natural logistics. Let it snow!” says Ski Classics Director David Nilsson.

The Region

Bardufoss has a civilian and military airport located about 82km north of Narvik and about 70km south of Tromsø, the largest city in northern Norway. Both Bardufoss and Finnsnes are very small, but they have their appeal and peculiarities, and the majestic nature around these places certainly takes your breath away.

Finnsnes is a small town in the municipality of Senja in northern Norway. The city has about 5.000 inhabitants, is located on the mainland, and its famous landmark is the Gisund Bridge that connects Finnsnes to the island of Senja.

The city’s port is part of the sea route from Tromsø to Harstad, with several daily boats to each town. Finnsnes, situated in the very north of Norway, is a great starting point for seeing the northern lights and the midnight sun.

Grand Finale Concept

Ski Classics introduced the Grand Finale concept to conclude Season XV, and now Summit 2 Senja concludes Season XVI with unparalleled greatness.

The Grand Finale concept aims to create an exciting and spectacular ending to the season, inspired by the iconic finish on the Champs-Élysées in the Tour de France, adding a similar level of spectacle and grandeur.

The Ski Classics Grand Finale Summit 2 Senja is open to Pro Team athletes, and for the first time, a limited number of 250 recreational skiers can register (registrations open soon). To get the ticket to be able to apply to the race, a skier needs to:

  or

  • Have a Ski Classics race result from the current season:

a. For Pro Tour events: One race on winner’s time plus 50% (in each gender).
b. For Challengers events: Two events on winner’s time plus 50% (in each gender).

Ski Classics introduced a ‘Grand Finale Qualifier pin’ on the SC My Pages. Once the qualification criteria are fulfilled, skiers will receive this pin. More details and information will be revealed closer to the event.
