Vasaloppet to Require Covid Certificates

by Ingeborg Scheve • 16.12.2021
Skiers have to present proof of Covid-19 vaccination to participate in Vasaloppet 2022.

Sweden doesn’t currently require valid proof of corona vaccination for outdoor events. But Vasaloppet intends to require that participants in the Vasaloppet events in March can document that they are fully vaccinated.

“We think that requiring a valid corona certificate of our participants is a reasonable measure, considering the rapidly rising infection rate,” says Vasaloppet CEO Johan Eriksson to Sveriges Radio

Eriksson points out that while the Vasaloppet events take place outside, the certificates add an extra layer of safety for participants on shuttle buses, in locker rooms and other enclosed spaces.

The 90-kilometer Vasaloppet takes place on March 6, 2022, but the Covid certificate requirement affects all the events in the Vasaloppet week.
