What Happened To Andreas Nygaard At Engadin La Diagonela?
At the end of Engadin La Diagonela, Andreas Nygaard was leading the main group but suddenly stopped and let the group pass by. It was surprising for the viewers, and at the end of the day, Nygaard finished in the 39th position, over three minutes behind the winner, Emil Persson, Lager 157 Ski Team.

It was easy for the viewers to fear the worst, but in the end, Nygaard explained to SC Play.
Those who watched you on TV were all wondering what happened to you in the last kilometer:
“I fell just before Pontresina, and then I had to use a lot of energy to get back to the main group. I had used up all my strength. Then I just tried to help my teammates as best I could to get a good position in the group when there were 1.5 kilometers left to the finish line. We know that on the last hill, everyone would need a good position,” Nygaard tells at SC Play and continues:
“I showed that I would not have enough strength to take the victory, so then I decided to help the others on the team. I emptied the tank on the last hill and was done for the day.”

What happened when you crashed?
“It was my fault. I lost control of the skis, fell, and broke the pole. I then had to ski for quite a long time with only one pole. The new pole I got was also too short. It ended up being a tough race for me. It happens sometimes.”
Now, all focus is on the following weekend’s first Grand Classics of Season XIV: Marcialonga.
“I think it was good training, and hopefully, I’ll be in better shape next weekend.”
The upcoming Ski Classics Pro Tour event is Marcialonga, a 70km classic technique event in Italy on January 29.
