New Ski Classics Challengers night race at Engadin La Diagonela!
The Engadin La Diagonela weekend is expanding for the upcoming edition. In addition to the existing classic technique races – La Diagonela (55km), La Pachifica (25km), and La Cuorta (6km) – and the free technique race, La Sfida (28km), the La Diagonela weekend will now open with “La Saireda Roseg,” the former Roseg Masters, covering 7.5km into Val Roseg. La Saireda Roseg is an individual race in classic technique from Pontresina to the Hotel Roseg Gletscher.
La Saireda Roseg will take place on Thursday, January 16, 2025, starting at 18:00 CET. Participants will begin at half-minute intervals. The route leads through the wildly romantic Val Roseg. At the finish at the Hotel Roseg Gletscher, the glacier is within easy reach. An experience that is hard to beat. At the finish line at Hotel Roseg Gletscher, participants can enjoy a spaghetti dinner, which is available upon registration.

12th Edition of Engadin La Diagonela
Engadin La Diagonela is celebrating its 12th edition. The 2022 and 2024 winner, Kaspar Stadaas of Team Radge Charge, looks forward to this year’s event:
“When I look back on the season, La Diagonela really stands out as one of the most epic races. The Engadin is like a cozy blanket nestled in the middle of these high mountains. The route passes through idyllic towns like Celerina, Pontresina, Val Roseg, and, last but not least, St. Moritz in all its glory and splendor. These cool ‘checkpoints’ make it easy to break up the long and tough race into smaller goals. The finish in the village of Zuoz offers an atmosphere like no other place. The feeling of crossing the finish line first and seeing the many cheering people on the village square is something I definitely want to repeat at the 12th edition. I will think about this moment during my preparations and use it as motivation for my training sessions.”
La Diagonela, 55km (+649m / -688m, classic technique)
The La Diagonela course starts in the winter sports paradise of Pontresina. The track is characterized by a varied profile, alternating between forest-free zones, the dense Stazerwald forest, and the frozen Lake St. Moritz. The route passes the glamorous tourist resort of St. Moritz, a two-time host of the Winter Olympics, before heading back to Pontresina via the Stazerwald. Athletes will traverse the romantic Val Roseg before continuing past Pontresina through open areas, the picturesque patrician village of La Punt, and the Zuoz golf course to S-chanf, the finish of the renowned Engadin Skimarathon. Participants can already hear La Diagonela’s loudspeakers from there. But the final challenge still awaits – the ascent towards the finish in the historic village center of Zuoz.
Engadin La Diagonela is also an official qualifying race for the Vasaloppet in Sweden.
La Pachifica, 25km (+228m / -270m, classic technique)
The little sister of La Diagonela, La Pachifica, also starts in Pontresina. Participants ski directly to Zuoz, enjoying the finish in the historic village center of Zuoz. The final climb to the village demands everything from participants.
La Cuorta, 6km (+131m / -84m, classic technique)
The La Cuorta cross-country race offers newcomers an attractive course and an unforgettable classic experience in a friendly and relaxed environment. The race starts in Zuoz at the golf course and finishes in the historic village center of Zuoz, just like the professional events.
La Sfida, 28km (+358m / -231m, freestyle)
Since 2024, the freestyle race La Sfida has been held on the Sunday after La Diagonela. The race can be completed in either classic or skating technique. It starts at the golf course in Zuoz. The route runs through the open areas of La Punt, Celerina, and Pontresina. A steep climb through the Stazerwald challenges participants before they cross Lake St. Moritz and Lake Champfer. The finish is at the kite paradise of Silvaplana.
