Torsby Ski Tunnel: Snow in Summer
“No problem! Torsby Ski Tunnel & Sportcenter offers subzero temperatures, pollen-free, and ski tracks all year round. With us, everyone, from children to recreational and national team athletes, can train and enjoy both on and off the track,” says Theréz Söderberg from Torsby Ski Tunnel & Sportcenter.
In 2006, the first tracks were drawn in the Torsby Ski Tunnel. This means that the business, in northwestern Värmland, Sweden, has been run for eighteen seasons.
“There are many reasons to come to us. If you are training in the ski tunnel, you have guaranteed snow. From May to February, we offer skiing in the tunnel, both classic and skate. For many who come here for the first time, it is a surprise how hilly the track is. But the nice thing is that you can turn around and adapt the climbing according to your ability and capacity,” says Theréz Söderberg.
Perfect training in the Summer
The lap in the Torsby Ski Tunnel is 1.3 kilometers long, and there is a total climb of 25 meters per lap. The temperature is constantly at minus three degrees, but the humidity is relatively high, so it can be good to dress for a few minus degrees colder.
“It is important to point out that we focus on everyone from families with children to recreational and national team skiers. Many groups, from clubs to national teams, join us for training camps. For those who practice biathlon, we have six shooting lines with electronic targets in the same part as the ski tunnel, and ‘outside the stadium,’ there is a shooting range with 30 shooting lines,” says Söderberg and adds:
“In the coming years, we will expand our roller skiing track. It is currently four kilometers, and there is a flatter loop and a tougher and hillier one. Roller skiing is included in the track card needed to ski in the ski tunnel,” says Söderberg.
Torsby Ski Tunnel & Sportcenter is the Official Vasaloppet center for skiing, cycling, and running and the Official Resort and partner of the Swedish cross-country team.
Within the area, you will find several facilities. Different types of accommodation, restaurant, gym, ski shop, changing room, disc golf park, a smaller slalom hill, and a play area for the children. In addition, you can carry out physical tests and get training advice from the Torsby Test Center.
“Then there are over 500 kilometers of cycle paths, quality assured by Biking Värmland. Whether you want to go for a short ride or train your fitness, cycle on a trail or dirt road, we have trails that suit, and this is completely free,” says Söderberg.
