On social media, Danish Skimarathon Team unveiled the new female additions to their Pro Team roster for the upcoming Ski Classics Season XV.
In a post on social media, the Danish Skimarathon Team announced that Niina Virtanen is joining the Pro Team.
This is the first season in which a Pro Team from Denmark competes at the Ski Classics circuit. However, the Danish Skimarathon Team is doing it without any financial support, just a lot of passion and the mission to develop long-distance and traditional cross-country skiing in their country.
Ella Jackson, Danish Skimarathon Team, will be one of the new faces competing in the Ski Classics circuit. The athlete comes from an unconventional place – an Australian athlete competing for a Danish Pro Team – but aims to perform well and help her team succeed during their first season.
Denmark is different from the country we think about when Nordic skiing is in question. But the Danish Skimarathon Team wants to change this fact and promote skiing in the land of H.C. Andersen. These Danes are keen on writing their own fairytale in Ski Classics, and they will do it with their unwavering passion.
Ski Classics Season XIV will be one of the most international seasons, with Pro Tour athletes coming from all over the world. Margeaux Thompson will be one of those internationals, coming from Australia to represent Danish Skimarathon Team. Read our interview to know more about this Aussie skier.
Despite all the challenges, the Danish Skimarathon Team is the first Pro Team from Denmark to race on the Ski Classics Pro Tour. Without formal sponsors, this squad of Danish skiers aims to inspire the development of long-distance skiing in their country – and to challenge some Scandinavian elite athletes on the circuit.
