Today, the second day of the Finnish premiere weekend, took place in Muonio with a 10km individual start race in classic technique for men and women. Iivo Niskanen (FIN) won the men’s race with a superior performance.

The Finnish cross-country skiing team’s head coach Teemu Pasanen is still waiting to sight relief, although the participation of the team’s biggest star Iivo Niskanen in the Tour de Ski seems likely.
Iivo Niskanen was one of the athletes selected when the Finnish national cross-country skiing team announced its athletes for Tour de Ski. But there is still a question mark over the name, as Niskanen will decide his participation in the Tour later.
Iivo Niskanen’s speed was enough for a stage win at the Vuokatti Aateli Race (Finland) when he took the win in the prologue. Lauri Lepistö lost 4.4 seconds to Niskanen, Remi Lindholm was third, 8.7 seconds behind the winner.
The Visma Ski Classics Challengers event Lapponia Ski Week – Stage 1 took place today with a 60km race in freestyle technique in Olos, Finland.
Finland’s Iivo Niskanen crushed his competitors in the 15-kilometer classic. Alexander Bolshunov takes home the silver, while Klæbo snags the bronze medal. Results 15km classic.
Finally, everything falls into place for Russia’s Alexander Bolshunov, winning the 30km skiathlon at the Beijing Olympics by over a minute, teammate Denis Spitsov takes the silver medal. Results 30km skiathlon.
Finland has named 13 cross-country skiers to the 2022 Olympics: Six men and seven women are headed for Beijing in February.
