Beijing 2022: All You Need To Know

Beijing Winter Olympics are coming up, much to the delight of winter sports fans. Check out the facts and figures of the Winter Olympics and the cross-country skiing and biathlon schedule.

Where is the 2022 Winter Olympics?

The 2022 Winter Olympics will be held in Beijing, China. This will be the first time the country will host the Winter Games, although it previously hosted the Summer Olympics in 2008.

The competition venues for the Olympic Games in Beijing have been divided into three areas: Beijing, Yanqing, and Zhangjiakou.

When is the 2022 Winter Olympics?

The Games start on February 4 and run until the 20th of the same month. The opening ceremony will be held on February 4.

Which Are The Sports In Beijing 2022?

The seven main sports of the Winter Olympics are biathlon, bobsled, skeleton, curling, ice hockey, luge, skating, and skiing.

Within these sports, 15 disciplines will be contested in Beijing:

  • Cross-country skiing
  • Biathlon
  • Bobsled
  • Nordic Combined
  • Curling
  • Alpine skiing
  • Freestyle skiing
  • Ice hockey
  • Luge
  • Figure skating
  • Speed skating
  • Short track speed skating
  • Ski jumping
  • Skeleton
  • Snowboarding

One hundred nine events will occur during the Games, and teams from 95 countries will compete in the Olympics.

Cross-Country Skiing and Biathlon Areas

For cross-country skiing and biathlon, the races will be held at the Zhangjiakou complex. According to Olympics.com, Zhangjiakou is a popular ski destination in China, approximately 180 kilometers northwest of Beijing.

Zhangjiakou will host most of the skiing and snowboarding events of the 2022 Winter Olympic Games, including cross-country skiing, biathlon, freestyle, ski jumping, and nordic combined.

National Cross-Country Skiing Center

The new National Cross-Country Skiing Center will host cross-country skiing and nordic combined events at the Winter Olympics.
