Burman: “I want to get on the podium”
The sprint took place yesterday, and now it is time for the distance races in Falun: 10km classic style on Saturday and 20km mass start in freestyle technique on Sunday. Burman is ready for the challenge.
Jens Burman and Leo Johansson are two Swedish skiers at the start who raced the 50km race in Holmenkollen last Sunday. And they had completely different experiences of their race in Oslo:
“I did a good race and couldn’t have done anything more that day. Then you always want more. It’s just the sprint that’s missing,” says Burman, who came in sixth, seconds from victory.
Leo Johansson, on the other hand, knew early on that it would be a tough day:
“I already felt on the first lap that I had no glide. And it’s my fault. I chose to put on an extra layer of kick wax, which was costly regarding the gliding. But I think the form felt good at the end. The 20 kilometers in Lahti was good, and I was strong at the end in the 50 kilometers,” says Johansson to Langd.se, who adds about Falun, where he has lived for five years.
“I like the courses here, and I would say that it is one of the tougher courses in the World Cup. You can’t be completely exhausted at the top because then you lose far too much time in the technical downhill with many turns,” says Johansson.
Jens Burman will start this weekend after a solid season in the World Cup. He has placed fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, and tenth in individual events.
“I want to get on that podium. So, I’ll have to give it a try this weekend. Or two tries. And if I look at the season, it has been solid after Christmas. But it is a podium place that is missing to be at the level I want,” concludes Burman.
