Eiduka revamps coaching strategy ahead of new season

Latvian cross-country skier Patrīcija Eiduka has announced significant changes to her coaching staff as she gears up for the upcoming season.

In an interview with Latvian Radio, Eiduka revealed that she has restructured her coaching team, opting to work with a single coach this summer instead of her previous setup of two Norwegian coaches.

Reflecting on the decision, Eiduka noted, “Before, I had two Norwegian coaches. Each had their own approach. This spring, I realized this might not always mean the best results. That’s why I chose to stay with one coach to work with this summer. The season has started well, and we’ve planned things a bit differently this year.”

Eiduka acknowledged the difficulty of choosing between two highly qualified coaches, each bringing unique strengths.

“Both coaches were excellent, and the choice was very difficult. Two very high-level coaches – each with their own strengths. But ultimately, I chose the coach with whom I felt I had more in common,” she explained to LSM.lv.

The changes extend beyond her coaching team to her training regimen. Eiduka plans to emphasize high-altitude training camps this year and intends to spend more time training in Latvia.

“Being at home has proven to be beneficial for mental freshness, which translates into better preparation for crucial training camps,” she said. “I’m spending July in Latvia but will head to a high-altitude camp at the end of the month.”

Looking ahead, Eiduka targets the Trondheim World Championships as the season’s premier event and aims for a consistent performance throughout the World Cup season.
