Finished with the Norwegian national team
According to Langrenn.com, Sindre Bjørnestad Skar was one of several on the men’s elite team who were expected to be in a precarious position regarding renewed trust from the national team management.
The sprint national team veteran only participated in one World Cup race this winter. It was the city sprint in Drammen in mid-March. Skar finished 16th there, after finishing in 28th in the prologue.
Drammen was also where Skar competed in his first World Cup race. It was in 2011, where he finished 28th. Since then, he has reached 17 podium finishes in the World Cup over the course of the 99 World Cup races he has competed in, including four victories. His most recent victory was in the team sprint in Planica in 2019.
Skar’s best result in championships is seventh place in the sprint at the 2019 World Championships in Seefeld.
Last week, it was also announced that Johannes Høsflot Klæbo has reached an agreement with the Norwegian Ski Association. The world number one, who competed outside the national team this winter, will therefore return to the national team starting May 1 this year. The contract with the Ski Association means that Klæbo will be part of the national team for the next two seasons, at least until the 2026 Olympics.
