Hennig 10km classic winner in Muonio

The second day of the Finnish premiere weekend took place today in Muonio with a 10km individual race in classic technique for women and men. Katharina Hennig (GER) won the women’s classic race.

In the women’s 10km individual race in classic technique, Katharina Hennig (GER) took first place with a total time of 28:48.9. Laura Gimmler (GER) snagged second place, 41.3 seconds back, and Caterina Ganz (ITA) completed the podium in third place, 42.4 seconds behind the winner.

Muonio FIS Races

The Finnish FIS season premiere in Muonio is known for drawing a large and solid international field. For many elite cross-country skiers, these races are an essential performance indicator for the World Cup in Ruka and a good thermometer for the winter.

The program in Muonio includes a classic sprint race (today), a 10km classic race with individual start on Saturday, November 11, and a 10km freestyle race with individual start on Sunday, November 12. 

Around 300 athletes from 19 different countries are taking part on the FIS races.
