Iivo Niskanen’s impressive financial success in 2023

By Leandro Lutz • 12.07.2024
Iivo Niskanen enjoyed a successful financial year in 2023, earning nearly two and a half times more than the previous year. The Finnish cross-country skiing star recorded a remarkable surplus of 622,272 euros, marking his best financial performance to date.

His company’s low expenses contributed to an operating profit of 566,957 euros, another company record. After paying 113,391 euros in income tax, Iivo Niskanen’s net profit stood at just over 453,000 euros. From this, he took a personal dividend of 150,000 euros, according to Iltalehti.

Niskanen’s company has also been making significant investments. The balance sheet now shows 755,000 euros in financial securities, up from 172,500 euros two years ago. Additionally, the company had over half a million euros in cash in its latest balance sheet.

Beyond prize money, Niskanen has bolstered his earnings through several commercial partnerships. He is sponsored by the Austrian energy drink company Red Bull, a Finnish personnel services company, and a forest machinery firm. Earlier this year, he even appeared in a toothpaste commercial.

Niskanen Triumphs at Vuokatti Aateli Race

Niskanen continued his dominance at the Vuokatti Aateli Race, winning the event for the tenth time and the seventh consecutive year. Reflecting on his performance, he told Maastohiihto.com:

“The run was okay. I started with a steady pace, as I already had a good gap between Remi Lindholm and Alexander Ståhlberg from yesterday. I knew they were solid runners and I just wanted to get some gap before the last roller ski section. I did well, and yes, I felt the heat and the lactic acid of the run when I went skiing.”

On the roller ski race that concluded the event, he added: “I saw that the trio behind me was coming quite well on the roller track, and I kept such a steady pace until the top of the climb. I tried to ski in such a comfort zone that if someone gets close to me, I can still tighten up. I tightened up a bit at the end when Markus Vuorela came a bit closer. It was quite a balanced move.”
