Nothing Broken For Maurice Manificat

by Ingeborg Scheve • 28.12.2021
Maurice Manificat is forced to withdraw from Tour de Ski before the stage race has even started.
Initial exams put Maurice Manificat back in the mix for a spot on the French team to the Olympics.

The French veteran was worried he had broken some ribs after falling during his workout on Monday. The crash forced Maurice Manificat to withdraw from Tour de Ski, which started today.

“After a seemingly trivial crash during my workout, the rib pain gradually became so severe that I wasn’t able to ski,” Manificat said.

Tuesday, Manificat announced that nothing is broken.

“I did the initial x-rays and ultrasound exams in Switzerland, which luckily showed no fractured ribs or bone injury,” the 35-year-old says to Nordic Mag.

Manificat is returning to France for additional check-ups. If all looks good, he will be back for the World Cup in des Rousses in January. The French World Cup weekend is his last chance to qualify for a spot on the Olympic team.

“I hope to be back in des Rousses. I’m very disappointed but not defeated,” Manificat says.
