Krista Pärmäkoski managed to hold off her rivals to take the overall victory in the women’s Vuokatti Aateli Race in Finland.

Pärmäkoski was the first to arrive at Vuokatinvaara, winning the Vuokatti Aateli Race for the second time in a row. Eveliina Piippo finished second, and Johanna Matintalo third. Matintalo was the fastest in the three-kilometer running race earlier in the morning.

“In advance, I thought I would be in better running shape than last year, and I had eight seconds better time. I expected someone else to pull in the run, and I had to pull myself, but I’m still happy, even though Johanna caught me at the end. She took the lollipop out of my hand, but I got my revenge in the roller skiing race. I haven’t exactly a fresh leg, so I’m quite happy,” Pärmäkoski  says to Maastohiihto.com about the morning running race and added about the roller ski event that concluded the event:

“When I started skiing, I thought that I should take it easy on the first steep climbs and then speed up on the easy sections so that I could separate myself from the people behind me so that they wouldn’t catch me, as there was a bit of a headwind. The tactics worked well, but it took a bit of my own legs to get to the end of the climb. It’s always a battle to climb to the end of the race.”
