Simen Hegstad Krüger Got Engaged
The king of the World Championships in Planica is to get married: Simen Hegstad Krüger proposed and is engaged.
Simen Hegstad Krüger, the 30-year-old who took three golds out of three possibilities during the World Championships in Planica, got the ‘yes’ from his girlfriend Kristine Ringsjø Tufte, and now they are going to get married.
The couple has been together for over five years, and Krüger felt that the time had come to propose this winter. Naturally, the proposal took place on a ski trip.
“We have been together for a while now, so I think it was time to maybe go one step further. I proposed during a ski trip at the cabin on Rauland. We had a sunset trip, and I proposed during it. It was very nice,” says Krüger to VG.
Aiming for Summer 2024
The romantic ski trip occurred in January, but Krüger and Tufte have not made concrete plans for the wedding yet. The two engaged will spend the time in the future nailing it down but suggest that they plan to marry in the summer of 2024.
According to VG, the two met through a mutual acquaintance but had known about each other before that. Tufte is a ski coach at LYN Ski, Krüger’s club.
Successful Season
In addition to gold in the 30km skiathlon, 15km freestyle, and relay during the World Championships, Simen Hegstad Krüger had a solid track record from last season: six World Cup victories, including Holmenkollen 50km in March, as well as gold at the 50km race and silver at the 10km classic during the Norwegian Championships part two at Tolga just before Easter.
