Swedish Men’s Sprint Team In Planica For A Training Camp
It’s time for the Swedish national cross-country skiing team to test the World Championships tracks in Planica – and the men’s sprinters are first out. A national team camp with focus and preparation for the World Championships in Slovenia in February.Â
Rollerskiing on the World Championships tracks is on the schedule when parts of the Swedish cross-country skiing team are now in place in Planica, Slovenia.
“It will be very interesting to see and familiarize ourselves with what awaits in February,” says national team coach Anders Högberg.
The sprint men will conduct two camps in the autumn – one in Planica and one in Falun. An investment that should give extra time and focus on speed.
Anders Högberg on the decision:
“We basically had a good season, but the percentage where we progressed from the quarterfinals to the semi-finals leaves a little more to be desired. Therefore, we divide ourselves up to be able to spend extra time and have improvements. Now we will be a smaller group with more focus on sprints and a set-up with more speed,” he says.
The remaining skiers in A-team and Team BAUHAUS occupy the World Championships location later in September for a more extended national team camp divided between Planica and Toblach. Still, the sprint men instead continue to Falun.
“You could say that we split the sprint camp into two to allow time for recovery in between. After Planica, there will be two weeks of regular training at home before we meet again in Falun,” says Anders Högberg.
Gustaf Berglund, Truls Gisselman and Emil Danielsson from Team Svenska Spel are also at the camp.
“All three have shown their strength during the winter. It will be a lot of fun to have them in the group and train together with the skiers from Team BAUHAUS and the A team. We have a dedicated team in place,” concludes Anders Högberg.
