The Norwegian Ski Association has named the cross-country skiers for their Team Elon West for season 2024/2025.

According to a press release from the Norwegian Ski Association, the seven cross-country skiers selected will be part of the Team Elon West for the upcoming season.

Team Elon West Season 2024/2025

  • Karoline Simpson-Larsen (IL Vargar)

Men

  • Mathias Holbæk (Vindbjart IL)
  • Jon Rolf Skamo Hope (Hyen IL)
  • Gaute Kvåle (Røldal IL)
  • Thomas Linnebo Mollestad (Oddersjaa SSK)
  • Aron Åkre Rysstad (Valle IL)
  • Sivert Wiig (Gjesdal IL)

Staff

  • Eivind Arne Bjaaland (Coach)

According to Langrenn.com, although Karoline Simpson-Larsen is the only woman on Team Elon West, she doesn’t see any issue.

“Elon should not be a big team. It is not good that the recruitment and level of the women from Western Norway is not better,” and added:

“Of course, I would wish that there were more women from Western Norway. But when the situation is as it is, I think it’s very good to be the only woman on the team. Fortunately, I like being with the men, so from a social point of view, there will be no problems,” says Simpson-Larsen.

“I really hope that recruitment in the West will improve soon, but I have faith that the Elon teams will be better at cooperating across the teams next season. Then I think I will get a good match from other women that way and can contribute with my qualities so that we all win.”

Simpson-Larsen goals are high for next winter:

“I aim to go to the World Cup again in the winter. And then you know that there is a World Championships in Trondheim that you dream about. At least I want to perform at such a level that I’m part of the discussion about a spot there.”
